Comments: Chauvaux et al. note that a ccpB-lacZ translational fusion was not expressed when only 183 nucleotides of upstream DNA were present, suggesting that ccpB is transcribed from a promoter further upstream. Chauvaux et al. propose an exoA-ccpB-yyaHI operon. SubtiList lists a potential terminator between exoA and ccpB. Microarray data show a small probability (0.06 Bayesian probability) that exoA and ccpB are in the same operon. Northern blotting, which was performed with an exoA probe only, show an exoA-ccpB transcript of about 2.0 kb (BSORF).
